USLC welcomes Leonard Szymczak!

The Roadmap Home: Your GPS to Inner Peace - Sunday, August 8, 2010

Leonard Szymczak, MSW, LCSW, has been a psychotherapist and educator for over 35 years, both in Australia and America, working with individuals, couples, families and groups. He was Director of the Family Therapy Program at the Marriage and Family Centre in Sydney, Australia and later served as a senior affiliate therapist with the Family Institute at Northwestern University. His new book is The Roadmap Home: Your GPS to Inner Peace. He is also the author of the novel Cuckoo Forevermore, a light-hearted satire on psychotherapy, and its sequel, Kookaburra’s Last Laugh, due out in 2010.

Leonard has conducted countless seminars and presentations and has written numerous articles on mental health, personal development, stress management, and relationship building. Throughout his life, Leonard has been committed to ongoing personal growth and believes firmly in the power of the individual to overcome adversity and transform one’s life.

Like the mythologist Joseph Campbell, he utilizes the concept of the hero’s journey to help individuals reshape their stories into amazing adventures. He firmly believes that when connected to the Guiding Power of Spirit, individuals can shift problems and pain into opportunities for healing and growth and return Home to love and inner peace.

A licensed clinical social worker, Leonard lives near the beach in Southern California where he writes, conducts seminars, and maintains a private practice. He is the proud father of two adult children.

Sunday Service at 10:00am

Has your life taken a detour, lost its way at a tourist attraction, or screeched to a grinding halt? Here Leonard will give some basic information on finding your way back home!

Workshop at 1:00pm - 3:30pm

Leonard draws upon his personal challenges and professional experience to map out a route of conscious living and steer you through the stages of spiritual awakening. In that process he shows you how to connect with the ever-present GPS, Guiding Power of Spirit, which illuminates the road to love and inner peace.

PRAISE FOR The Roadmap Home: Your GPS to Inner Peace:

“Read this book! It will lift your heart and give hope and help for all on the spiritual pathway. Leonard Szymczak shares a treasure trove of ideas to bring a loving, lasting peace to our hearts as we find our way home to wholeness.”

Will Tuttle

USLC welcomes back Dr. Will Tuttle!

Will Tuttle, an acclaimed writer, educator, pianist, and composer, has presented widely throughout North America and Europe. Author of The World Peace Diet and recipient of The Peace Abbey's distinguished Courage of Conscience Award, he has also taught over 20 different courses at the college level, including courses in mythology, philosophy, comparative religion, and creativity.

His Ph.D. dissertation in education from the University of California, Berkeley, focused on educating intuition in adults and was nominated for the Best Dissertation Award. A Dharma Master in the Zen tradition, he has done intensive training in Korea, and has practiced meditation for over 35 years, studying contemplative Christianity, and a variety of non-Western spiritual traditions.

He is devoted to planetary awakening through spiritual education and to spreading uplifting original music through concerts and his critically-acclaimed albums, the latest being The Call, OceanPrayer, SkyHigh, AnimalSongs, Islands of Light, and Ascension.

Rev. Tuttle travels with his spouse and life partner, Madeleine, a Swiss visionary artist, providing seminars, concerts, lectures, TV & radio presentations, meditation retreats, exhibits, and individualized music and art portraits.

"Will has that rare ability to communicate effectively with his audiences from both the sense level and the realm of intuition."
-- Tom Witherspoon, Unity writer and minister
"Will is not only an entertainer and an educator, but a spiritual uplifter, as well. Participants found his music inspirational and his presentation gently challenging. I experienced him as a 'partner' in the Sunday service and would surely welcome him in my ministry at any time."
-- Rev. Claudell Hefner, Unity minister and teacher

Awakening Your Inner Genius - Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 10:00am

Will's talk will offer insights on how to inspire and awaken your own Inner Genius.

Piano Passion - Sunday, September 5, 2010 at 7:00-8:30pm

Will presents a Concert for a New World. This Piano Passion Concert is an affirmative musical prayer for world peace and for celebrating the beauty of the Earth and potential of our Spirit. Rooted in ancient sacred traditions that see music as a vehicle of consciousness, the concert generates a field of healing and insight. It includes visionary art by Will’s spouse, Madeleine, who is a nature artist from Switzerland.

Come and expect to be transported, uplifted, and carried to new inner places!

“When playing the piano, he works from his Buddha-nature, floating, not trying, beyond mistakes.”
--Joseph Campbell, noted mythologist and writer

This concert is presented on a love offering basis.

Individual sessions for personalized Music and Art Portraits - Sunday/Monday, September 5/6, 2010 Indivual Afternoon appointments

These sessions can be for either individuals or couples.

In your session, Will meditatively tunes into your unique essence and translates this into uplifting original piano music. You will receive a private piano concert inspired by your spirit, and the music is recorded onto a 30-minute compact disc and a digital master tape.

Simultaneously, Madeleine creates a 9” x 12” watercolor painting also inspired by your essence, not a physical likeness but a unique artistic blend of evocative images.

Many people have found these sessions to be particularly helpful for increased self-understanding, healing, love, and in times of transition.

The suggested donation is $135.00 and includes the half-hour session of music, the CD of your music, and the painting, all using highest quality materials. If you’d like, Madeleine can mount and frame your painting as well.

Sessions take approximately 45 minutes.
