Unity is a positive way of life that honors every spiritual path
From the moment you enter our doors you know you are welcome here. You are met with friendly smiles and warm greetings and you know that these are loving, honest, and genuine people who are glad to see you again, or meet you for the first time. There's lots to check out from posters of coming events to our community bulliten board, and maybe a stop by our Inspiration Cafe.
When you enter the Sanctuary you notice that our non-traditional seating arrangement leaves a large, open floor-space in front of the platform. This allows our Minister, speakers, and singers to step down and be closer to the audience; like the feel of a townhall meeting. Our three-piece band that promises to fill the room with rich, toe-tapping sound and from the first note you know these are industry professionals playing with skill and familiarity. Our Music Director makes selections each week to realize the service message in song and the vocals will infuse your body with healing power of music. You will feel energized.
After the opening solo has awakened you and the opening prayer has centered you, it's time to share the good news. Experience the joy and support of your church family! Even if it's your first time, you're welcome to say "hi". We're glad to meet you! A Congregational song follows and then a brief chance to greet old friends or make new ones.
Soon it's time for a peaceful meditation and then two more solos to "bookend" the Minister's talk and move the message from head to heart. The Minister's Message is a lesson in practical Christianity that you can take home and apply to your daily life! There are many spiritual Masters we draw from here, including multi-faith teachings because we know there is only One God but many teachers.
An offering is taken with love and gratitude, and then we have some brief announcements to keep you in the know followed by a visit from the children from our Youth Ministry. All too soon it's time for the Peace Song and your Sunday journey is almost complete...but now it's time to stay for Fellowship! Food, refreshments, friends, and another chance to check out that Inspiration Cafe!
We provide Professional Child Care for children from infants to 3 years old in our beautiful nursery. Childcare is under the direction of a licensed childcare worker who is assisted by a volunteer staff. Childcare is available during all church services and can also be available during classes and activities by prior arrangement.
As soon as a child is old enough to follow basic directions and stay focused for brief intervals she/he can join our Unitots class. The Unitots program employs stories, songs, plays, crafts and other forms of creative expression to begin familiarizing children with basic Unity principles.
Children in kindergarten through 3rd grade participate in our Unikids program. This program begins to explore in more detail basic Christian teaching and Unity principles. We utilize an eclectic approach which includes stories, Bible, music, meditation, dance, theater, crafts and discussions to help our children to discover their own divinity.
The Unitweens are engaged in a wide rage of activities designed specifically for this unique age group, where they really begin to discover who they are and who they came here to be. The spiritual principles are introduced at an appropriate level, and they are being called out to explore spirituality from their own understanding. They further learn how to practice spiritual principles in relationships with each other, with their teachers, and with others in their lives. They become ready and eager to move on to Teen-hood.
Our young teens have their own youth group that helps them to explore issues and ideas that are relevant to their lives and spirituality. We use a variety of methods including discussion, Bible, stories, music, creative expression, experimental activities and field trips. Since peer relationships and fun are central to the young teenager, special emphasis is put on the fellowship aspect of the group. The Uniteens have many fun activities such as "lock-ins" (sleepovers at the church), parties, fund raisers and service projects. They also participate with other Unity groups in regional events, which provides a fantastic opportunity to meet like-minded young teens and form lasting friendships.
Older teens have a youth group designed especially for them. This group helps them to explore some of the deeper issues of spirituality and growing up. Teachers provide classes on Bible, Unity Principals, Self-exploration, etc - but the group is teen centered and teen directed. Youth of Unity members have ample opportunities to interact with like-minded teens and to form important friendships that can be the basis of a very positive peer support group. They also interact in regional and national events with other Youth of Unity.
During this 6-week series, we will discuss how to apply spiritual principles in your daily life in practible and practicable ways.
This is the core of Unity Principles and it's always good to be reminded. Bring a friend as a casual way to introduce them to Unity!
